Local couple, business leader feted at 2008 awards dinner

A Milford couple, a local businesswoman and a Bridgeport family were honored at Boys & Girls Village's 2008 awards dinner held at Grassy Hill Country Club, attended by 150 supporters and friends. Attorney Joseph Tramuta and his wife, Meg, of Milford, were given Distinguished Service Awards for their cumulative efforts in support of the

children served and programs offered by Boys & Girls Village.

"So much of what we do here at the Village is necessary due to the breakdown of the traditional family," said Chris Carroll, Director of Development. "Yet, for children, the most important role model of all is a parent, and this year we wanted to spotlight a local couple that not only has brought tens of thousands of dollars of donations to the agency, but is also a role model couple."

Carroll noted that Joe Tramuta is a sitting member of the agency's Board of Directors and a successful local businessman. "And right beside him, supporting him every step of the way is Joe's wife, Meg, parents to two lovely children."

Also cited with a Distinguished Service Award was Lucille Clancy of Wal-Mart of Milford. Carroll noted that Clancy first began directing donations from Wal-Mart to Boys & Girls Village when she was a community liaison at the Shelton store, which continued when the Stratford, Derby and Milford Wal-Mart stores were subsequently opened.
