Safe Haven
The Safe Haven is a 16-bed program, licensed and funded by the state Department of Children & Families (DCF). The program provides immediate shelter care and services to boys and girls ages 3-12, accommodating younger and older children when part of a sibling group. Services are designed for children who are experiencing an initial out-of-home placement due to abuse and /or neglect. All referrals originate from the state Department of Children & Families. The goal of the Safe Haven is to provide a safe, nurturing, home-like environment where the child can be stabilized through the crisis. During this time, a multidisciplinary evaluation (MDE) can be obtained for the purpose of treatment and permanency planning. Contact Shelter Director Christine Bouey at 203-882-5892, ext. 161.
