BGV Tournament Raises Record Revenue to Benefit Connecticut’s Most Vulnerable Children and Families

8/1/2015

On June 1, 144 golfers gathered to participate in an event that has been growing for four decades - the 40th Annual Dan & Yolanda Adley Memorial Golf Tournament to benefit Boys & Girls Village. The event was hosted at Race Brook Country Club in Orange, and sponsored in part by BIC Corp. The "Rally for the Children" Pro-Am Tennis Tournament was also held in conjunction with the golf tournament, with 13 tennis players taking part. Proceeds support at-risk youth and families who are provided much-needed behavioral health, permanency planning and special education services at Boys & Girls Village's Milford and Bridgeport locations.

Following a day of competition, golfers, tennis players and guests enjoyed raffle prizes, a silent auction and dinner, all emceed by Keith Kountz, anchor at News 8, WTNH Connecticut. A truly lively auction was guided by auctioneer extraordinaire, Eric Hummel.

Net proceeds from this year's tournament increased to record levels, growing by 27% over last year. Event Co-Chairs Gina Carloni Hart and Kevin Hart attribute this success to the many golfers, sponsors, and donors of raffle and auction items who came together for a milestone year in support of Boys & Girls Village.

Steven M. Kant, M.D., President and CEO of Boys & Girls Village, said, "The Dan & Yolanda Adley Memorial Golf Tournament is a signature event. It not only gives us a chance to spend a fun day together with like-minded supporters, but it also brings attention to the significant needs of children and families in our area whom we can help." Dr. Kant in his comments underscored that he was extremely appreciative of the efforts of all participants, volunteers, and staff members who prepared for nearly a year.

While the field included many talented golfers, it was the foursome of Michael Veronese, Paul Mullaney, Chris Herboldt and Rick Biroscak who garnered the coveted 1st Place Net. The 2nd Place Net winners were team members Martin Thurston, Mark Phillips, Matt Hoagland and Brett Lord. The 3rd Place Net winners were team members Kevin Hart, Paul Chesek, Sean Hart and Gary Hart.
Other prize winners included: 1st Place Gross, team members Tom McKiernan, David Mathieu, Thomas Kowalchik and Jeff Smith; 2nd Place Gross, team members Luciano Havens, Mario Massimino, Anthony Massimino and Mike Allegra; 3rd Place Gross, team members Tom LoRicco, George Claffey, Jean Albert and Marco Rumbin.
