Dr. Kant Thanks Community for Overwhelming Toy Drive Support

We have a simple message for our neighbors in Connecticut: Thank you.

Maybe you didn’t feel like you were going out of your way, giving very much, or doing anything special, but the donation you made for the Boys & Girls Village Holiday Toy Drive made a child’s season a little brighter. That board game, Barbie Doll or Lego set may have cost you $20, but the smile on the face of the boy or girl who unwrapped your present is priceless.

At Boys & Girls Village, we care for some of the state's most vulnerable, at-risk children. Most of them receive some form of state assistance and are involved with the Connecticut Department of Children and Families. These children often have experienced trauma, abuse or neglect, and their situation offers few chances for a happy holiday. But thanks to your kindness and generosity, we collected more than $50,000 in toys, clothes, blankets, and stockings, allowing these children and many others in our community to experience a little bit of joy this holiday season.

We are also grateful to our community partners who have teamed up with BGV to make our Holiday Toy Drive so successful. Businesses like the Trumbull Marriott, Colonial Toyota of Milford, and Raymour & Flanigan Furniture Clearance Center of Milford opened their doors to collect toys for us. Other partners designated our toy drive as their giving priority, such as CT Chiefs Minor Pro Football, Shoreline Dental of Milford, Pajama Program, Halle’s Hope, Sikorsky employee groups, numerous church and school groups, and so many others. And we were honored to be selected again this year as a participant in Chaz & AJ's (from 99.1 PLR, 102.9 The Whale and 95.9 The Fox) Toy Drive at Bridgeport's Webster Bank Arena on December 11.

If you're searching to find signs of the spirit of the season, you don't have to look very far. It truly takes a village to make our community strong and healthy. Our children and families thank you for your special support of Boys & Girls Village during this time. Best wishes for a very happy new year!
