Billing Specialist

Location: Milford, CT

Purpose/Function of the Program:

The Finance Department is responsible for all financial record keeping and reporting for the agency and being a resource within the agency to facilitate business operations.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Billing Specialist is responsible for the submission and collection of all per-diem claims generated by the agency.  Particularly medicaid, commercial insurance, and per-diem DCF billing.  

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the flow of client intake procedures, including insurance eligibility checks, obtaining and monitoring client authorizations, entering demographic and insurance information into the Carelogic EHR system
  • Processing third party claims for both medicaid and commercial insurance
  • Resolution of claim denials from third party insurance
  • Monthly invoice generation for school, Therapeutic Foster Care and Safe Haven
  • Recording of accounts receivable payments into the Carelogic EHR system
  • Daily monitoring of failed claims and failed activities in the Carelogic EHR system
  • Communicate/train new clinical staff on billing procedures and requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

Essential Qualifications/Skills:

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum 4 years experience working with non-profit medicaid billing
  • Computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong Organizational Skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Carelogic EHR system

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
