PURPOSE/FUNCTION OF PROGRAM:
Charles F. Hayden School is a K-12 state accredited, special education day school. Collaborative educational planning and placement teams including families and district personnel design Individualized Educational Programs (IEP) for every student.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Clinical Director coordinates and oversees the effective implementation of clinical services at Charles F. Hayden School (CFH), under the direction of the Director of Residencies. Provides a safe and effective therapeutic milieu by supervising the Milieu Managers as Clinical Manager. The Clinical Director is a member of the school leadership team, and works as a liaison with the Residencies’ leadership regarding clients that attend both programs to ensure clinical needs are being met in both settings. This position will work in close collaboration with CFH Educational Director who reports to the V.P of educational and Vocational Services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensures that clinical/therapeutic services as identified in the student’s IEP as well as those embedded in the program are effectively implemented and meet client/family needs and are delivered in a manner that is culturally competent, family centered, and endorses goals of wellness and recovery. Identifies best practices where applicable.
  • Ensure implementation of school clinical and classroom management policies and procedures.
  • Under the direction of the Director of Residency Services ensures that that the school setting provides a safe and effective clinical program that utilizes appropriate behavioral management strategies.
  • Manages and oversees the School Clinical Manager to maintain that all clients receive the clinical services as identified in the student’s IEP and as may otherwise be needed. Ensures School clinical staff and Residency staff are working collaboratively.
  • Oversees the School Milieu Managers to ensure that the milieu staff is following policy and procedure, as well as ensuring that the milieu effectively integrates behavioral principles with various other components of intervention including Risking Connections, trauma-based concepts, and is PSB and JJ informed.
  • Utilizes data to identify outcomes including QA measures, effectiveness of interventions and to assess proactively areas of risk
  • Provides direction to teachers in regard to classroom management and collaborates with Asst. Principal
  • Oversees clinical training for direct staff and other school staff to achieve a high quality, high performance service delivery system.
  • Adheres to and supports the milieu behavioral/social skills model as well as Therapeutic Crisis Intervention.
  • Provides crisis management interventions.as is needed and coordinates such with CFH Psychiatric staff
  • Participates in PPT meetings as needed with required information regarding specific cases, relevant issues and related resources.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensures that documentation is completed in accordance with state, federal, and agency regulations
  • Carries out other job-related duties as necessary.
  • Participates in and leads as necessary classroom/staff meetings.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
  • LCSW, PhD or Licensed Masters’ Degree in related field.
  • Experience working with youth and at least 3 years of experience supervising professional staff.
  • Experience in Educational or Milieu based programs
  • Must be able to respond to crisis.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish desired.
  • Experience in treating traumatized youth.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • School Milieu Managers and Clinical Manager reports directly to them.
  • Supervises Teachers in regard to classroom management
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Ability to implement Charles F. Hayden School interventions and services.
  • Must complete CPR and First Aid training.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT:
  • Valid Connecticut Driver License and be willing to drive off campus for home visits and/or collaborative meetings.
