Stephanie Bozak, Psy.D. joined Boys & Girls Village in 2014 as the Director of Residency Services. In her position, she oversees Kid’s Intensive Needs Network (Kid’s INN), which is a 24/7 Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility. She also directs Safe Haven, a 24/7 residential program for adolescents with problem sexual behavior, the only such program in Connecticut.
She received her doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Hartford, specializing in working with children, adolescents, and families. Dr. Bozak’s clinical interests include attachment, trauma, resiliency, working with youth within the juvenile justice system, and the prevention of sexual harm.
Prior to joining Boys & Girls Village, she was the Clinical Coordinator of several Short Term Adolescent Respite (STAR) homes as well as a Level II group home. She completed a pre-doctoral internship at a long-term residential care facility for children and adolescents where she focused on working within the Abuse Treatment and Prevention Program. As part of this program, she worked with adolescents who were referred through the court system and presented with significant histories of trauma and criminal activity.
Over the course of her graduate and professional career, Dr. Bozak has provided psychotherapy, practiced crisis intervention, conducted risk assessments and psychological evaluations, and supervised clinicians and milieu staff. Work settings have included a therapeutic special education school, outpatient clinic, substance abuse facility, residential facilities, and group homes.
She is a member of the Connecticut Association for the Treatment of Sexual Offenders (CATSO), the Connecticut Psychological Association, and the American Psychological Association.
